Legend has it that long ago,herdsmen in the valleys of the Swiss Alps accidentally placed thissemi-hard cheese near a campfire while migrating. The meltedcheese could be scraped off and eaten with roasted potatoes,onions, and other vegetables, making a delicious meal paired withtea or kirsch (cherry brandy). This method of consumption quicklyspread, becoming a traditional way to enjoy the cheese. To thisday, Ralette is still enjoyed as a classic accompaniment to steaksand hamburgers.
